Report Claims Indiana Jones Bethesda Game Isn’t Xbox Exclusive, Opening Door To PS5

We learned last year that developer Wolfenstein Modern MachineGames working on a project based on Indiana Jones PI. Although the project was revealed by Bethesda in a teaser video on Twitter in 2021, we know little about the game.

It was assumed, since launch, that the game would be an Xbox exclusive; and why not? Bethesda and Microsoft are now one big happy family (citation needed) and Xbox noted that “future Bethesda games will be exclusive to platforms with Game Pass”.

But, speaking on the Xbox Two Podcast, Windows Central’s Jez Corden noted that the game won’t be exclusive to Xbox; when asked by co-host Rand al Thor if the game is “exclusive [to Xbox]”, Corden simply replies “it doesn’t”.

Corden has already proven himself to have privileged sources, so there might be some credence to this claim. He also provides a caveat, saying he heard this information “a long time ago” and “maybe something has changed…”.

Wondering if Sony had a boost to afford this game?

How likely is a flagship game for Bethesda to go to platforms other than Xbox? It’s unclear whether the development of the Indiana Jones game — and its eventual launch situation — was a publishing deal signed prior to Microsoft’s $7.5 billion acquisition of Bethesda. With Sony having all the adventure fun with Uncharted, you’d think Xbox would want its own iconic Explorer, wouldn’t you?

So what can you actually expect from the game when it finally launches on all the platforms it launches on? Well, all we know so far is that MachineGames said:

“As huge fans of the franchise, it’s a huge honor for us to be creating an all-new Indiana Jones game with a completely original story. We’re very excited and look forward to sharing more in the future.

We know that Todd Howard is an executive producer on the title, but there isn’t much other information on the project other than that. Don’t expect any news of any of this anytime soon either; the developer said last year that it “would be a while” before there was any further news on the game.
