Public Notice and Proposed Program of Projects for Fiscal Year 2022 The Lee-Russell Council of Governments (LRCOG) is asking the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) for a grant for operations, preventive maintenance and assistance in capital under 49 USC Section CARES and 5307 grants combined federal transit laws, as codified. The Operations, Preventive Maintenance and Capital Grants will provide financial assistance to the public transportation service for residents of Lee and Russell counties in fiscal year 2022. The service currently operates Monday through Friday, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. CST. No change of service is planned. The 5307 capital grant will also provide financial assistance for the purchase of two (2) F550 cutting planes equipped with a wheelchair lifting station, two (2) F450 cutting planes equipped with a wheelchair lift station, dispatch software, and a Lee-Russell Transit Facility Construction (LRPT) project during FY-2022. Copies of the detailed service description and project budget are available at the Transit System office, 2207 Gateway Drive, Opelika, AL between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. A public hearing will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. CST in the Lee-Russell Council of Governments Boardroom located at 2207 Gateway Drive, Opelika, AL 36801 for public comments. This notice will constitute the final program of projects for the Lee-Russell / Lee-Russell Transit Council of Governments, unless the scope of the project changes as a result of comments received during the public hearing.
