Daredevil’s Deborah Ann Woll Shares Her Thoughts On Bringing Karen Page To The MCU

The pieces seem to be falling into place for a daredevil revival at Disney and Marvel Studios. Recent reports allege that the reboot is progressing and aims to launch production before the end of the year. While many fans are excited about the possibility of seeing more Man Without Fear, they also have a number of questions. One of those questions is how Marvel might fill the cast for the alleged project. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, who recently reprized their respective roles, are likely shoo-ins. But the status of stars like Deborah Ann Woll is still unclear. Now, the actress is sharing her thoughts on possibly bringing Karen Page into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Karen Page became a key part of the Marvel-Netflix franchise during its run, and Deborah Ann Woll received praise for her performance. It’s been a few years since Woll played the nosy paralegal-turned-journalist, while fans last saw Page in The Punisher Season 2. Although he was away from Karen for a few years, Woll said Geek’s Lair that she’s even more than up for reprising the role in the MCU:

I’d love to take Karen back in a heartbeat. Obviously I would want it to be the right thing, I wouldn’t want to go if it was completely different from what we did. I would come back because I want to play with Matt Murdock again and I want to play with Frank Castle again. I want to see these characters again. Even though I stayed in contact with the humans, the characters are also fascinating people. And it’s a strange thing as an actor, you have a relationship with fictional characters. That’s your job, your job is to create a real relationship with something that doesn’t exist, and it affects you as if it does, so that’s the hardest part. …if they call, I’m here with open ears.

Like many fans, Deborah Ann Woll wasn’t exactly thrilled when daredevil was canceled by Netflix after three seasons in 2018. The following year, Woll revealed that she felt “sad” when she learned of the cancellationalthough she took some pleasure in knowing that the series was axed “at the height of [its] powers.” Woll then opened up and particularly emotional about not finding an acting job after the show ends (which can now be streamed using a Disney+ subscription).

the true blood alum also stood with fans, as they asked not a word to revive. With a reboot seemingly underway, one would assume Karen Page’s character would be involved in some way. As one of Matt Murdock’s top allies, it would make sense to keep her in the mix. Marvel Studios could opt to revamp the character’s mythology a bit, though, which could knock Page (and possibly others like Foggy Nelson) out of the picture.

It’s probably safe to assume that these types of omissions aren’t the kind of changes fans want to see. There is, however, one key change that lead actor Charlie Cox would like to see. He recently revealed that he wanted Daredevil’s costume changed, as he would like the hero to have his iconic DD emblem. Superhero duds aside, Cox also discussed the possibility of doing a “lighter” PG-13 takes on the Marvel characterwhich would be different from the gritty three seasons he’s had so far.

These are all things that fans should definitely consider as Marvel Studios and Disney’s plans for daredevil become clearer. Hopefully Deborah Ann Woll and all of her former co-stars fit in with the direction the so-called project plans to go.
